Real Life - Oblivion MCD

Oblivion (Album Version)
Oblivion (Nevarakka Mix)
Imperfection (Tycho Brahe Extended Remix)
Oblivion (Syrian Mix)
god Tonight (Bleeding Nose Mix)
Oblivion (Cosmicity Mix)
Oblivion (Real Life Lexicon Mix)

This track, the newest one on the "Imperfection" album, was chosen to be the sole single from the album for A Different Drum. It features two remixes, one of the title track ("Oblivion") and also the track "god Tonight" (which apparently was the lead single from the "Lifetime" album) by the band Real Life, 3 more remixes of the title track, and a remix of "Imperfection" by fellow Aussies Tycho Brahe.

Of the remixes of the title track, Nevarakka don't disappoint, with a hard-hitting, high-tempo trance mix of the song, but unlike some trance mixes, also maintains the original melody of the song for the majority of the mix. Syrian take the track in a more futurepop direction, with sharp, quick and catchy synth hits and a slightly static-y heavy beat thumping along during the song. Cosmicity (and this is probably the last remix under that project name for Mark Nicholas), go for a full-out modern synthpop version of the song, with a chugging bassline and all the trimmings. And really, all three mixes work really well. Real Life's remix of the song sounds a lot like material from the "Happy" album, at least in the vocals. A lot more rough, deep and dark.. I like it! Tycho Brahe turn in a pretty cool remix of "Imperfection", but the remix of "god Tonight".. I have yet to hear this song in a version I like. This isn't an exception. Possibly, if I heard the original, I would be impressed with it, but this remix doesn't impress me one bit.

Overall, this song was the perfect choice for a single, most of the remixes are excellent, and it's worth picking up!
