I could easily accuse this album of being a remix album. :-)
Some of these tracks did appear on the Lode release "Just
Another Day". Catchy title, eh? The Lode project was a side project of
Rubicon 7, done as a sort of closet-cleaning of the early more synthpop flavors
of the band's early works. Now, the band has re-oriented themselves, with more
of a contemporary dance leaning, while still retaining the solid pop sensibilities
that  attracted me to the band initially. Some of the older tracks have
been altered radically, such as "Don't Let It End This Way",
"Just Another Day", and "You Are The One" have been
transformed into ultimate dancefloor fillers, with meaning. You can't help but
move to these energized new versions. The most improved of the older tracks, in
my opinion, however, would have to be "I Can See It In Your Eyes". The
song has even more feeling and emotion layered into, while still giving it a bit
stronger dance vibe. The Blackwell vs Slyder mix of "Begging You for
More" is really fun, as it takes the disco flavor of the original track,
and amps that vibe to the Nth power.
Of the new songs, my personal favorite is easy to pick. "No More
Compromise" features a message I need to hear every day. Not to mention its
incredibly infectious chorus. Following closely is the 'bonus track',
"Tomorrow In Your Arms". Once I read Brandon's explanation of the
track, it really hit me how easy it could be to be in the same situation as the
person in the song. It's musically quite different from the rest of this disc,
as it's mostly piano and vocals (almost Color Theory-esque
:-)). But it's a incredibly powerful song. Don't get me wrong, "Forever
Until That Day" and "Take My Hand" are good songs, but these 2
just really leapt out at me on the first listen, and still have a hold on me to
this day.
The remixes take the tracks even further into the dance-club arena, with
pounding bass, or in the case of the mix of  "Is It Just Me?", an
almost mosh pit friendly combination of harsh distortion and pounding drums. I
have to name my favorite mix as the LP-T mix of "Just Another Day",
with it's ultra-bouncy bass line, and cool sounding backing synth sounds. I love
it!
Overall, I highly recommend this CD. It's not what you expect, and yet it's
familiar at the same time. Catchy, and yet amazingly dance friendly. In summary:
What People In A Box got all wrong, Rubicon 7 gets
perfectly right.
