To give a little framing to this review: I haven't heard most of these songs in 3 years. I got tired of my copy of "Naive Art" and sold it long ago. Only my recent resurgance in interest in Red Flag prompted me to track down this really rare CD.
That being said, compared to the newer material by Red Flag, lyrically, these songs stink!! They don't have 1/1000th the depth of feeling and emotion that the songs on "The Crypt" do. Sure, the music is pure synthpop, and really infectious and catchy, but the lyrics... gah! Some parts of these songs (lyrically) sound almost as silly as the Backstreet Boys.
This is a good CD, don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed it, especially while driving back and forth from work. It's a good listen for when you want a simple, fun popsong. It's synthpop, but with no depth... Kinda like a hollow candy bar. Looks great, on the surface it's great, but there's no depth.
A fun listen, but give me "The Crypt" anyday.... Added: Sunday, March 24, 2002 Reviewer: Jason Baker Score: hits: 806 Language: eng
