To be honest, the first edition of this album was never too impressive. Yes, most of the songs were catchy and danceable, but the lyrics were, for the most part, silly or nonsensical. The two main exceptions to that are "Save Me Tonight", with it's sincere plea for comfort and empathy. Also, "Rain", with it's expressions of deep love. But most of the other songs (by coincidence, all dance numbers) are pleasing to the ear, but kinda lacking in depth. One thing I've been left wondering by this album for a long time is, how would these tracks have sounded without Paul Robb's production? The remixes are great, energizing the already prominent dance feel in the originals to new heights. I really like the second mix of "If I Ever", as it's a full-on instrumental mix. The mix of "Rain" wasn't altered radically, or at least I can't hear it. Overall, yes, this is a good album. But it's lack of depth cuts it replay value down greatly...
