In January of 2003, Ninthwave Records released the debut EP from Raindancer, who had previously had success through mp3.com. The band had previously released a demo cd through mp3.com, also reviewed here, but the "Sleepless" EP was the official debut of the band. After the release of that EP, various issues came up that delayed the release of the album up until the point that Ninthwave worked out a arrangement with both Raindancer and A Different Drum to release the album on the ADD label. So, in March 2005, the Raindancer debut album was finally released.
The album finds the band still playing the same high-energy dance/synth-pop as previously, but with a more seasoned songwriting skill that is evident immediately. Yes, songs such as "Regret", "Come With Me" and the new version of "Sleepless" will get you dancing quickly, but there seems (at least to me) to be more thought and depth to the lyrics than in previous Raindancer tracks. Every single track here is solid, even the slower closing ballad "Bleeding". This album is just a 45 minute progression of one solid, memorable and catchy songs.
Simply put, if you like your electronic pop with plenty of fast beats and ultra-catchy choruses, you owe it to yourself to pick up and enjoy this album. Highly recommended!
